The economic benefits.

The Project will be carefully designed to blend seamlessly with the unique landscape and character of the Vlamingh Head precinct. It will help drive sustained economic growth in Exmouth by creating year-round jobs and opportunities for local businesses.

The Project will further enhance the successful Ningaloo tourism brand and increase domestic and international visitation, which will benefit the region.

The Economic Benefits

Supporting the Exmouth community.

We are committed to working closely with the Exmouth community and has commenced a whole of the town engagement program. Among many opportunities, exploring ways to increase the involvement of Traditional Owners across the regions tourism sector in partnership with dedicated stakeholders is underway.

Throughout the construction and operation of the property, permanent access to the coast and beach adjacent to the property will remain.

Preservation of the Ningaloo Coast’s natural environment.

The design of the Project has been carefully considered to respect the environmental and landscape character of the area, and to retain the low-key, low-impact nature of tourism operations at Vlamingh Head.

The design will take into account the impact on significant flora and fauna, preservation of remote values and landscape character, management of coastal hazards and bushfire risk, and the implementation of on-site wastewater recycling and solar power generation initiatives.

We continue to undertake significant work to minimise effects on native wildlife and the broader natural environment.

The Ningaloo Lighthouse Project reached a major milestone in 2021. In March, we referred the Project proposal to the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) under Section 38 of the Environmental Protection Act 1986.

According to their website, the EPA endeavours to protect the environment for present and future generations through the provision of sound, robust and transparent advice. The EPA decided that the State process would assess our referral via a Public Environmental Review.

Importantly, this process has provided an opportunity for public comment to further inform the Project proposal.
